Our Story

The WENO Story
Recognizing the need for expedited communication in healthcare, WENO founder and CEO, Tina Goodman, set out to innovate digital solutions for an industry that remained dependent on fax machines and telephones. In 2006, WENO Healthcare Inc. became a pioneer in the digital healthcare communication revolution.
As companies increasingly capitalized on the ideas of the early visionaries, WENO adapted in order to remain competitive. In 2007 a physician in Castroville, Texas asked if the WENO Healthcare eCommunity could add ePrescribing to their services. Like other ePrescribing networks that had tried to enter a strongly dominated market, WENO Healthcare was not able to provide a vast network of pharmacies to support prescribers.
WENO Healthcare applied to be an Office of the National Coordinator Approved Testing & Certification Body (ONC-ATCB). They were not approved despite passing scores on both of the required industry knowledge exams. While preparation for the rigorous exams exhausted WENO Healthcare of its start-up capital, the process proved to be a blessing in disguise, with Goodman emerging as an expert highly trained in EHR certification, testing procedures, and ePrescribing standards.
With renewed confidence in her mission and a new strategy for disrupting the ePrescribing industry, Goodman launched her innovative ePrescribing platform, WENO Exchange, in 2014. WENO Exchange merged with WENO Healthcare Inc., and it is now one entity known as WENO Exchange LLC. Goodman’s creativity, resilience, and collaboration with WENO’s dedicated team of expert software engineers drove WENO to become the first and only ePrescribing company to successfully operate independently from the SureScripts' network.
In May of 2019, the Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against SureScripts for monopolizing the ePrescribing industry.
Legislation requiring ePrescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) has left many providers scrambling for an affordable alternative to SureScripts. In May of 2019, WENO's newest EPCS software was awarded a certificate of compliance by a DEA-approved auditor paving the way for a new era of competitive pricing in the ePrescribing industry.
